Normally this wouldn't be a good time of year to list your home in many areas of Long Island, but this isn't a normal year. Currently buyers outnumber sellers by astounding numbers in many areas. This has led to bidding wars and higher contract prices (it's still to be seen if these higher prices will appraise).
Is this a micro-bubble within a bubble? Is it a continuance and acceleration of the sellers market we came into in 2017? No one can be sure. What can you do?
If you're thinking of selling in the spring, move up the date and list now. If you're buying now you need to get a buyer's agent and be careful how you bid on homes, let your agent advise you on pricing. You don't want to buy now and see a disastrous drop in value in a few months. These are treacherous waters we are in, don't go in without a guide.
