Professional Designations/ Certifications

    I got a question e-mailed to me this week about the letters after my name and what they stand for. So I thought that would be a nice easy blog, here goes:

    SFR= Short Sale & Foreclosure Resource

     e-PRO= Internet Professional

    SRES= Seniors Real Estate Specialist

    GREEN= Green building and sustainable practices

    BPOR= Broker Price Opinion Resource

    I have invested the time and money to improve my knowledge and become certified in several areas; to increase my own abilities, and better assist my clients. Every bit of knowledge is potentially useful when battling for a client, knowledge truly is power.

    There are many agents who have great interpersonal skills, but are dumb as stumps. While many are wildly successful, their clients get short changed in my opinion. I never understood why sellers or buyers would trust one of the biggest financial deals of their lives to people who have little to no mental processing powers.

    Real estate is complex and competitive, there are always at least two sides trying to get the best deal possible. When interviewing agents try and judge their intellect as well as their ability to ingratiate themselves to you. When they are representing you they have to be tough, intelligent and able to think on their feet. Personality, mindless banter and a Mercedes don't get you the best deal; a good agent does.
